Choose the drink before the toppings
Start with the menu category: milk tea, fruit tea, brewed tea or a blended drink. Black, green and oolong describe tea bases; they do not tell you which toppings are included. Read the ingredient description, then pick the cup size offered at that location.
Ask what the sweetness setting changes
If the shop offers sugar levels, ask what its regular setting means and whether the selected drink can be adjusted. A lower setting may change added syrup without removing sweetness already present in a topping or prepared base. Ask separately about ice; blended drinks may have fewer adjustment options.
Name the topping you want
Check whether pearls are included or selected separately. Tapioca pearls are chewy; popping pearls have a liquid centre. Start with one topping if you want to understand its texture. Ask about the additional charge before adding several, and discuss ingredient restrictions with staff before preparation.
Repeat a complete order
A useful order sounds like: “Medium black milk tea, with tapioca pearls, less sweet and regular ice, if those options are available.” Staff can translate that into the shop’s settings. Check the cup label or receipt before leaving, especially when several drinks look similar.
